Nuffnang Asia-Pacific Blog Awards

2 years ago, Nuffnang held the inaugural Asia-Pacific Blog Awards in Singapore to award the best of the best in the blogosphere. On 16 December 2011, Nuffnang brought the awards ceremony back at Putrajaya Marriott, Malaysia.

500 bloggers from all over Asia-Pacific (Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, Philippines, China, Hong Kong and Thailand) were invited and sponsored a short getaway. I think about 50 bloggers from Singapore were invited.

Here’s what we ate at the gala dinner!

My sorbet melted because…

I was busy snapping away.

After party at Zouk. Danza Kuduro!

Look at the crowd! The bloggers burned both nights - first night at Zouk, second night at G Tower. Do we even sleep?

Spent 3D2N at Putrajaya Marriott.

Nice view from my room!

I’m going to die from clogged arteries due to high level of cholesterol in my blood! I had three types of eggs for breakfast - omlette, scrambled and overeasy.

I will upload more photos when I get hold of them. All photos above are mine unless otherwise stated.

I can no other answer make, but thanks, and thanks.

A big thank you to Hayden Boutique!

I love how the gown turned heads at Nuffnang Asia-Pacific Blog Awards (NAPBAS). Some commented that the gown leaves no room for imagination because of the great fit while some said it looks atas. Either way, I fancy the gown, especially the bright color and cut.

Hayden was really kind to provide me with jewelry from Michal Negrin to match his gown.

Do follow Hayden on Twitter or Facebook for fashionable updates!

This parsley shawl reminds me of his pre-fall 2011 collection.

With Xiaxue, Cheesie and Bongqiuqiu at Nuffnang Asia-Pacific Blog Awards (NAPBAS).

Congratulations to Xiaxue for bagging the region’s best blog award again and Cheesie for clinching the best fashion blog award.

Aquanova Launch!

Aquanova opened its doors on 09 December 2011. Strategically situated at Clarke Quay (where Clinic used to be), Aquanova is a competitive restaurant bar serving contemporary Asian cuisine. The stage for live band is huge for a bar.

I was taken aback by the number of servers (5 on each side) and alcoholic drinks who greeted me at the door.

The pudding was good! I had 2.

HIV+

I am fortunate to be invited to the Communicable Disease Centre on 10 December 2011.

World Aids Day falls on 01 December but how many of you truly understand Aids?

Did you know that:

- HIV is not passed on through spitting, biting or sharing utensils. Over 90% of people with HIV were infected through sexual contact.

- You can now get tested for HIV using a saliva sample. Say goodbye to the painful finger prick blood test and you can get the results of an HIV test in just 15-20 minutes.

- Only 1% of babies born to HIV positive mothers have HIV. I was a fool to think 100% of babies born to HIV positive mothers have HIV. It can be prevented with guidance from doctors.

- There is no vaccine or cure for HIV. However, you can keep HIV in control with early detection and medication. Unfortunately, the medication causes side effects such as nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, etc. It burns a hole in your pocket too.

But guess what? HIV can be prevented! It’s as easy as ABC!

- Abstain from sex
- Be faithful if you do not abstain
- Use a condom if you are not faithful

Besides prevention, early detection saves lives! A recent article on Channel News Asia mentioned that about 70%-80% of HIV patients in Singapore are diagnosed only when they reach the late stage of infection.

It is alarming to know that only 20% of the patients at Tan Tock Seng Hospital opt for an HIV screening due to stigma surrounding the disease.

I won’t deny that HIV still a sensitive issue in Asia and sadly, most victims face discrimination because people are unaware of HIV.

HIV is neither easily transmitted nor a plague. Victims should not be discriminated in any way, especially in Singapore where citizens are highly educated.

We had lunch prepared by HIV victims at the Patient Care Centre afterwards.

The nasi lemak was yummy!

These beautiful merchandise made by HIV victims are available at Tan Tock Seng hospital pushcart. Proceeds goes to Tan Tock Seng Hospital Community Charity Fund. Other merchandise such as laptop bags, iPhone pouches, etc, are available.

I also did a giveaway on Twitter right after the event.

Congratulations to Michelle and Ernest! Both of you have won a bling bangle and HIV storybook each!

It was a simple contest. All my readers had to do was to follow me on Twitter and retweet that particular tweet.

Aids awareness day may be over but learning is a lifelong process. Let’s be positive about people living with HIV.

We are all HIV+. Show your support at www.facebook.com/BePostive.

He passed a freaking guitar to his fans on the left side of the stage!

Y u no pass to the fans in the middle?! I was right in front.

Mike and Train sang Don’t Stop Believing by Journey together! They totally made my night!

Patrick went around to snap photos with his fans’ cameras.

He grabbed my camera as I was standing in front of the stage. Hooray!

But he didn’t manage to capture me or himself. :( You can see a trace of him on the left edge, and the mic at the bottom of the picture.

Jimmy makes me wanna dust my ukuleles.
